Happy (arr. Paris Rutherford) - Pharrell (Choral, SATB) – PERFORMANCE NOTES “Happy” has become a favorite for many listeners, following the popular recording by Pharrell Williams. This arrangement places a trio (SAT) on the melody lines which are backed by the rest of the vocal ensemble. Vocal ensembles ranging in size from 8 to 28 can perform this setting of "Happy" with ease. The arrangement also has optional parts for three horns (trumpet, tenor sax, and trombone) that enlarge the sound delivered to your audiences. In this arrangement, keyboard and bass parts are notated both with notes and chord symbols, giving the players maximum latitude according to their level of experience. The drum part is notated with rhythms consistent with the popular sound of the song. The ensemble will profit from hearing then singing once or twice with the recorded tracks, thus quickening their ease in reaching the best level of “story telling.” “Happy” was a fun project – I feel sure that you and your ensemble will enjoy the arrangement and its effect on your audiences.
