A Night In Tunisia (arr. Paris Rutherford) - Dizzy Gillespie (Choral, SATB) – “A Night in Tunisia,” composed by Dizzy Gillespie, lyrics by Frank Paparelli, is a classic jazz standard recorded by Ella Fitzgerald, Miles Davis, Stan Getz, Count Basie’s band, and many more. This arrangement uses two rhythmic styles: easy Latin and swing four in the head (main melody) of the tune, and then moves to just swing four in the solo area. If a guitarist is part of your rhythm section, he/she can play off of the bass part using the chord symbols. Improvisation can feature two singers, male and/or female. The improv shown in this arrangement is a guide, but can be sung “as is” when and where it would be helpful. If two are improvising, they should be in front, enjoying a “conversation” with each other. Audiences love this! Enjoy “A Night in Tunisia” – one of my favorite tunes! Paris Rutherford
